Initially, the heat exchanger may show slight leakage. In process equipment with high pressure impact, significant leakage may occur due to gasket damage.
High-efficiency plate heat exchangerThe joining surfaces should be cleaned with a chemical cleaning agent. Similarly, a chemical cleaning agent must be used to remove the softener and anti-sticking coating adhered to the sealing gasket. Apply the adhesive to the middle of each bonding surface. Depending on the width of the gasket, the width of the adhesive is approximately the width of a matchstick. Then, use a brush to evenly apply the adhesive to the entire bonding surface to fully utilize the entire bonding surface. Depending on the type of adhesive, allow for ventilation and drying time before inserting the gasket. Stack the plate heat exchangers together and tighten them with tightening screws, or use a heavy object to press down on the stacked heat exchanger assembly.
The softening of the elastic gasket is related to pressure and temperature. When the gasket loses its elasticity, the heat exchanger will leak. In some products, to address leakage caused by gasket aging, it is permissible to adjust the sealing performance of the heat exchanger, i.e., retighten the bolts of the assembled plate heat exchanger, adjust the clamping force of the elastic gasket between each heat exchanger, and address the leakage issue. The nameplate of heat exchangers with this function usually specifies the allowable maximum and minimum stress.
For new heat exchanger plates, a small allowable stress should be used for connection and fixing. Depending on the number of heat exchanger plates in each group, the tightening force of the heat exchanger can be adjusted once or multiple times. Each time the tightening is performed, the nut can be tightened by 3 mm, and the stress condition of the plates should be continuously monitored during the tightening process.
