Heat exchangers are crucial heating equipment in heating systems, serving as a transitional link in heating and central heating projects. Plate heat exchangers hold an extremely important position in the development of heat exchangers. Generally, we mainly distinguish plate heat exchangers based on their structure, that is, based on their appearance, which can be divided into four categories: ① Disassembleable plate heat exchangers (also called plate heat exchangers with gaskets), ② Welded plate heat exchangers, ③ Spiral plate heat exchangers, and ④ Plate and shell heat exchangers (also called honeycomb heat exchangers).
Among them, welded plate heat exchangers are further divided into: semi-welded plate heat exchangers, fully welded plate heat exchangers, plate and shell heat exchangers, and brazed plate heat exchangers.
Frequently used classifications also include:
1. According to the amount of heat transfer area per unit space, plate heat exchangers belong to compact heat exchangers, mainly in comparison with shell and tube heat exchangers; traditional shell and tube heat exchangers occupy a larger area.
2. According to process applications, there are different names: plate heaters, plate coolers, plate condensers, and plate preheaters;
3. According to process combinations, they are divided into single-pass plate heat exchangers and multi-pass plate heat exchangers;
4. According to the flow direction of the two media, they are divided into co-current (parallel flow) plate heat exchangers, counter-current plate heat exchangers, and cross-flow (cross-current) plate heat exchangers, with the latter two being more commonly used;
5. According to the size of the flow channel gap, they are divided into conventional gap plate heat exchangers and wide gap plate heat exchangers;
6. According to corrugations, plate heat exchangers have more detailed distinctions, which will not be elaborated here. Please refer to: Plate heat exchanger plate corrugation forms;
7. According to whether they are complete sets of products, they can be divided into single plate heat exchangers and plate heat exchanger units.
