What are the advantages of water-water plate heat exchangers? Water-water plate heat exchangers are mainly clean, convenient, lightweight, small footprint, and inexpensive, making them popular in many industries. The advantages of water-water plate heat exchangers are detailed below.

When we remove the pressure plate of the water-water plate heat exchanger, we can loosen the plate bundle, remove the plates, and clean them mechanically. If we want to simply change the combination of heat transfer area and flow rate, we only need to add (or reduce) blades to increase (or decrease) the required heat exchange area. The plate thickness of a lightweight plate heat exchanger is 0.6~0.8mm, and the heat transfer tube thickness of a shell and tube heat exchanger is 2.0~2.5mm. The shell of a shell and tube heat exchanger is much heavier than the arrangement of a plate heat exchanger. When completing the same heat exchange task, the heat exchange area required by a water-water plate heat exchanger is smaller than that of a tubular heat exchanger. The installation area of small plate heat exchangers is narrow, and the heat exchange area per unit volume is 2~5 times that of shell and tube heat exchangers. It does not require a maintenance space with extraction restrictions like shell and tube heat exchangers. Therefore, for the same heat exchange task, the layout of tubular heat exchangers with high heat transfer coefficients is beneficial for strength. However, from the perspective of heat exchange, it is not very good. When the fluid moves in the shell, there are baffles and shells. The fluid passing through these bypasses does not fully participate in the heat exchange. The water-water plate heat exchanger has no bypass, and the corrugation of the plates causes the fluid to cause turbulence at a low flow rate. Therefore, the water-water plate heat exchanger has a high coefficient, usually 3~5 times that of a shell and tube heat exchanger. The low price is a prerequisite for the use of materials, requiring less material for deployment, and the production cost must be lower than that of tubular heat exchangers.
